Session 10: Content of the Zine

In this session we focused on our editor’s letter and the contents page. Suzanne told us that this is similar to the press release because it is a short communication that has been written about the zine topic which attracts the attention of readers. However, a letter comes at the beginning and press release comes at the end.

We were assigned to make 3 different pages with different layouts, pictures and font types. Firstly, I started by writing my letter about my zine contents and theme. In my opinion, my strength were the layouts, strong portraits and mark making. However, I didn’t experiment with different fonts as much as I should. Even if I felt like this font is nice and simple, moreover easy to read, I will definitely try the other fonts. I can also adjust the text position better, for example not too close to the edge or cover the face.

Then we tried to create a contents page and combined them together. I will probably change some bit like the page number, text size, or grammar later.
